Mac OS X is highly recommended although OwlView can run with Mac OS 8.6 or above if CarbonLib 1.1 or above is installed.
An internet connection is required to download basemaps. Once basemaps for your areas of interest are downloaded, you may use OwlView to map your data without an internet connection.
When extracting data from external applications, the following applications are supported: Excel 98 through v.X (Excel 2004 compatibility has not been tested), FileMaker Pro 4 through 6 (FileMaker Pro 7 is not supported at this time).
OwlView requires 1.5MB memory plus addition memory for each basemap. When using Mac OS X on a machine with 128MB or more, memory should not be an issue. When using Mac OS 9, you will need 3 to 12MB of free memory for OwlView. See the support page for more Mac OS 9 memory info.
When downloaded, OwlView is unregistered. It is fully functional but limited to producing maps of no more than 15 locations (ZIP codes, towns, census tracts, etc). To produce larger maps, you must purchase a registration key which will remove the 15 location limit.
